Dublin singer-songwriter Ylroy, will be launching their debut EP at The Sound House, with support from Aoife and Llama Cult.
Ylroy (they/them) is an Irish-Filipino singer-songwriter who has been writing songs since the age of 15. Based in Ireland, their music delves into queer experiences and relationships through the the borders of folk and anti-folk genre alike, characterised by minimal instrumentation and atmospheric guitar work. Drawing inspiration from artists like Moldy Peaches and Judee Sill, Ylroy’s sound is a unique blend of introspective lyrics and stripped-back acoustic arrangements, with their beautiful, soft vocals and delicate guitar work creating an ethereal atmosphere that draws listeners into their world.
Ylroy is slowly establishing themselves as an artist in Dublin’s indie music scene, having played sold-out shows in Dublin venues including Bellobar and Workman’s. Their music is an exploration of queer experiences and the complexities of human relationships, with
their heartfelt and authentic musical approach centred on poetry which invites listeners to reflect on their own experiences and emotions.
